Neraca Perdagangan Masih Defisit US$ 327,4 Juta

Trade balance still suffers a USD 327.4 million deficit 

Kinerja perdagangan Indonesia pada kuartal pertama belum memperlihatkan pemulihan secara signifikan. Badan Pusat Statistik mencatat, pada Februari 2013, neraca perdagangan Indonesia masih defisit US$ 327,4 juta. "Secara kumulatif, Januari-Februari 2013 defisit US$ 402,1 juta. Defisit disebabkan impor migas yang cukup tinggi," kata Kepala BPS, Suryamin, dalam konferensi pers di kantor BPS, Senin, 1 April 2013.
Indonesia’s trade performance in the first quarter has yet to show a significant recovery.  Central Statistics Agency (BPS) data revealed in February 2013 that Indonesia’s balance of trade still suffered a deficit of USD 327.4 million. “Cumulatively, the deficit from January to February 2013 reached  USD 402.1 million. It was caused by the steep rise of oil and natural gas imports,” BPS head, Suryamin spoke at a press conference in the BPS office on Monday, April 1, 2013.

Data BPS menyebutkan, total ekspor migas pada Februari 2013 sebesar US$ 2,539 miliar, sedangkan impornya mencapai US$ 3,645 miliar. Dengan demikian, selisih defisitnya US$ 1,105 miliar. Lebih terperinci, total ekspor minyak mentah pada Februari 2013 hanya US$ 814 juta, sedangkan impornya US$ 826 juta. (http://www.tempo.co)

Earthquake 

The situation is dramatically different now. Perhaps the first modern observational advance followed the 1971 San Fernando, California, earthquake (magnitude 6.5). Hundreds of records of the strong motion of the ground became available—notably the peak horizontal ground acceleration of 1.2 g recorded on the abutment of the Pacoima Dam. These records raised questions on the significance of topographic amplification (see Spudich et al. 1996 for a later case history of this effect). In 1999, an even larger set of recordings was obtained in the Chi-Chi earthquake in Taiwan (magnitude 7.6). This earthquake source had an extraordinary surface fault displacement and over 400 free-field measurements of ground accelerations and ground velocity were made.

Sekarang, situasi tersebut berubah drastis. Kemajuan observasi modern pertama boleh jadi menyusuli gempa bumi San Fernando, California pada tahun 1971 (6,5 magnitude). Ini ditandai dengan tersedianya ratusan rekaman gempa dahsyat itu, khususnya yang terjadi di dasar bendungan Pacoima dengan percepatan tanah horizontal maksimum (horizontal PGA) sebesar 1,2 g. Rekaman ini mengundang pertanyaan akan pentingnya penjelasan topografis lanjutan (lihat Spudich, dkk. 1996 untuk riwayat kasus berikutnya akan dampak ini). Pada 1999, rekaman yang lebih banyak lagi diperoleh dari gempa bumi di Chi-Chi, Taiwan (7,6 magnitude). Gempa ini bersumber dari pergeseran patahan tanah yang luar biasa, dimana lebih dari 400 pengukuran bebas bidang yang meliputi percepatan dan kecepatan tanah dilakukan.

Belumlah menjadi Jerman baru 

IS SPAIN the next Germany? It may not feel like that to the 26% of Spaniards who are unemployed. GDP shrank by 0.8% in the fourth quarter of 2012. Yet in some ways, Spain resembles the Germany of a decade ago, when Gerhard Schröder brought in reforms to turn the sick man of Europe into its strongest economy. The efforts by Mariano Rajoy’s government to loosen labour laws and cut public spending are aimed at a German-style miracle.
Apakah Spanyol adalah Jerman selanjutnya? Mungkin hal ini tidak dirasakan oleh 26% penduduk Spanyol yang berstatus penggangguran. PDB (lapangan usaha) menyusut hingga 0,8% pada kuartal keempat tahun 2012. Namun, dalam beberapa sisi, Spanyol meniru Jerman dasawarsa lalu, ketika Gerhard Schröder membawa pembaharuan yang mengubah rakyat Eropa yang pesakitan menjadi terkuat dalam perekonomian. Sabah conflict complicates matters for Najib, says report

Konflik Sabah memperumit tugas Najib, kabarnya  

The conflict in Sabah between the followers of the Sultanate of Sulu and Malaysian forces may affect the popularity of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and the upcoming general election in Malaysia, Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofAML) said.
Konflik di Sabah antara pengikut Kesultanan Sulu dan tentara Malaysia bisa mempengaruhi popularitas PM Najib Abdul Razak dan pemilu mendatang di Malaysia, kata Bank America Merrill Lynch (BofAML).

In its latest research note, dated March 7, BofAML said surveys conducted in January to February showed that Najib's popularity dropped, driven by a decline in sentiment of Malay voters, while "dissatisfaction" with BN and the government rose.
Berdasarkan hasil penyelidikan terakhir, tanggal 7 Maret, BofAML mengatakan, survei yang dilakukan selama Januari hingga Februari menunjukkan bahwa popularitas Najib telah jatuh, disebabkan oleh menurunnya sentimen para pemilih di Malaysia serta meningkatnya ketidakpuasan terhadap BN (partai Barisan Nasional) dan pemerintah. 

"The ongoing Sabah (Lahad Datu) insurgency may also be complicating matters for PM Najib. Sabah is one of the strongholds of BN. Sabah and Sarawak contributed one-third of BN's parliamentary seats in the 12th general elections," the bank said.[…] 
Pemberontakan Sabah (Lahad Datu) yang masih berlanjut dapat pula memperumit tugas PM Najib. Sabah adalah salah satu kubu BN. Sabah dan Serawak telah menyumbang sepertiga kursi parlemen BN pada pemilu kedua belas.

Why Has It Been So Hard to Eradicate Corruption in This Country?

Corruption has dilapidated the justice and civil service sectors in Indonesia for a very long time. It appears to have been deep-rooted within the two vital sectors. The condition makes a flood of people wish for immediate governmental efforts on settling the serious issue, for they are most unlikely to go away from both sectors in order to meet their particular needs. Then, why does the corruption in Indonesia feel so hard to be erased? Substantively, there are several primary causes of the prolonging corruption.

The first to mention is that it is told to become such a tradition as it has happened since the very first time of the country’s establishment. So to erradicate it mostly or completely is not an easy task. Besides, the fact that most corruptions are committed in congregation also complicates the erradication process inasmuch as those involved in the cases will attempt to cover them together. Moreover, if they come from relatives or practice nepotism, the condition will turn much more complicated. The high cost of political campaigns causes corruption practices around Indonesia as well. The tradition of “money politics” is still preserved in some places until now. Then, less interest of people in politics that results in their less attention to political issues and government officials is another cause for the officials to commit corruption on duty.  

To sum up, some major causes drive the corruption in Indonesia to remain growing. The government, as demanded by people, must take initiatives in form of severe punishment and hefty fines to end corruption practices across the nation. Thus, the money they have stolen from people can be returned and used to improve the quality of education, health, and well-being.
